World Tour of Scotland - 22 Isle of Whithorn

Well! If I thought the journey through Glasgow yesterday was scary, i was wrong. It was a doddle compared to today's route. We had set the satnav for the postcode of the site near Newton Stewart but instead of it taking us:- Maybole, Turnberry, Girven, Newton Stewart with lovely views of Ailsa Craig and Arran, it took us over the moors on a single track road through the Galloway Forest Park. Sounds nice enough, you're thinking. (See Extra) Yes, but unlike the single track island roads we had enjoyed. this one had no designated passing places, and steep drops at the roadside!

It was a hairy, 26 mile, 3-hour journey but we arrived safely at a lovely campsite, the last of our tour, Drumroaming C & C Park beyond Wigtown.

In the afternoon, for a modest fee, we were allowed to walk through Galloway House gardens down to a private bay. (See Extra) We then headed down to the Isle of Whithorn (which isn't an island) where we made a cup of tea and enjoyed watching folk messing about in the harbour.
