Lathyrus Odoratus

Another day, another skipper

The Grizzled Skipper - even smaller than yesterday's Dingy Skipper - and photography made harder by a stiff breeze. Finding the Grizzled Skipper was a bonus as my target today was the Pearl Bordered Fritillary which has all but disappeared from England. One of its last refuges is not far away and I had seen reports of sightings in the last week. Amazingly I saw one within ten minutes of arriving. I was so taken aback that I didn't get a chance to photograph it and despite searching for more than four hours I couldn't find another one.
