The fragility of life.

A single egg on the nest of the Great Crested Grebe policed with vigilance by Mum and Dad. Last year there were four eggs in the nest on the Secret Lake, but neither eggs nor nest survived. This time the nest is better protected from herons, foxes, magpies, and humans, and if this one egg makes it, that will be something. I'll keep you posted.
