Wound up in Wexford

Pond clearance

As promised, we spent several hours today clearing the pond, and its edges, of some of its verdant growth.  W went wading.  As he was tugging hard to pull up grass from the edges here, I had visions of it suddenly coming free, and him ending up sitting in the water - now that would have made a good photo.  The extra shows just some of the weed W pulled out - spread out to enable wildlife to escape, and then to dry so that it can be chopped and added to the compost heap.

Once the pond was cleared, I spent a couple of hours clearing nettles and other weeds from the area between the top of the pond and the hedge - I still have a prickly thumb to testify to the nettles.

I then spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing and reading, whilst W continued to clear grass and weeds from various areas of the garden.  We're nearly back in control.  But as any gardener will tell you, keeping control is a neverending job.
