Forget-me-nots

I love these deep blue forget-me-nots that come up each year at the edge of a grassy path. The plants are only 5cm tall and it can be tricky not to mow them before the flowers come out.

This afternoon the nor'wester has been very strong and turbulent. I sawed wood this morning and intended putting vegetable plants in the garden after lunch, but the wind was too strong. It was impossible to get an in-focus shot of the flowers so I tried disguising the fact with a little watercolour treatment.

The blackbird fledglings are still visiting on the veranda. Later I saw the female helping herself to fat.
