RW's Daily Exposures

A Good Day Out

I led a bird watching trip today for 17 people. Most were beginners, but we had a wonderful time, learning, seeing and hiking in one of the most beautiful areas south of San Jose.

Several pairs of different birds were sited. This photo, along with some of the extras are of Western blue birds. Some of the most beautiful birds in Northern California. The main post, is a male Western blue bird with an insect in his beak. Selected for the brood of chicks that await his arrival.

The rest of the extras are just more bird shots, except the one of the butterfly. I think it's a rare Checker spot, but I have posted it on a site by the name of iNatural along with its location to see what they think. Anyone who might know what species of butterfly this is would be welcome to comment.

Enjoy!
