I spent an enjoyable day researching an outing featuring the Tolpuddle Martyrs. The final stop was at the re-opened Shirehall, which houses the courtroom and cells where criminals were tried by Magistrates until the 1950s. I emerged into the sunshine and thought Thomas Hardy looked a little less crusty against the spring leaves.
