The Bloomingdale Trail, Chicago

I read about this trail last night after arriving at my hotel in Chicago and decided to go exploring today.

The Bloomingdale Trail (also called The 606 Trail) used to be the Bloomingdale Line - an old elevated freight and passenger train line running west to east into the city. The last freight train was in 2001, the city bought the rights to the line in 2013 and in 2015 it was opened as a multi-use recreational trail. The trail is 2.7 miles long and I walked the length of it from west to east, through both residential and industrial areas, and saw many walkers, runners, cyclists, roller-bladers, and skateboarders also enjoying the beautiful sunny day.
