Gray Catbird

The sky was black this morning, thunder and lightning and heavy rain. Poor Zoe the dog didn't enjoy that at all.
But it cleared up nicely in the afternoon. D, K and young C are out doing various errands, and I've just come back from a walk around the neighbourhood doing some "birding". Lots of activity with a variety of species now that it is warm and sunny - one day I will get a decent shot of the yellow warbler!
This rather drab Gray Catbird makes up for its mundane looks with a beautiful song, celebrating in the sunshine. Apparently they can imitate the calls and songs of other birds, and are related to mockingbirds.
