Blossom underwing

This rather striking caterpillar, is the larval stage of the Blossom underwing moth Orthosia miniosa ,  one of the less common spring flying Orthosia species which occurs locally, mainly in the south.
The attractive caterpillars live in a silken web when young (which is where I found them) but later seperate.
I shall be looking forward to some beautiful blossom underwings next spring.
