Putting the boot in

I thought the state of these boots was because I'd visited a dodgy cobbler for some sole gluing in South Sudan. The guy in Timpson confirmed they are not redeemable as they're too far gone, and a repair of the whole sole would cost about sixty quid.

I'll have to bite the bullet for a new pair as they're fairly necessary in my job. What I won't repeat is walking in rivers when they're brand new, as I did with this pair five years ago in Aceh. It wasn't a strong foundation for ongoing usage. But I did get an elephant ride out of it, so swings and roundabouts.
