Amalfi Coast Road - Amalfi and Ravello

The drive along this notorious road was raising and amazing - wonderful views - not enough adjectives to describe it . We were on the side of the vertical drop most of the way so we had a good view!!!!
We stopped in Amalfi having looked down on Positano. We managed to beat the crowds so started with a coffe and a local delicacy called delizie al Limone - see extras . Cake heaven ! :)) A little bit of people watching and we had a yummy slice of pizza dangling our feet in the sea from the harbour wall.
Many famous people had villas here like Sophia Loren although hers was taken away for tax purposes.
The coach then took us along a winding mountain road to Ravello where DH Lawrence wrote one or two of his novels . This is the view I’ve chosen as it’s the archetypal Amalfi Coast view in all the adverts - real life was even better.
We toured the Villa Rufalo - with Wagner playing in the background- the gardens are lovely and musical events are staged here throughout the Summer originally on a platform outside but now in a much abhorred newly designed building described by locals as the white whale - a modern building not fitting the graceful medieval ones surrounding it .
The drive home was equally stunning and horrific :))
** the gala night was such fun - live music and the waiters parading in a wonderfully staged way to lively music - dessert was brought in by candlelight- lots of clapping and cheering!
