Weed and Friend

We've left quite a large border all around the perimeter of our garden, just in front of the thick hedge. The amount of insects and birds it's attracting is amazing. Yesterday evening we could see about 30 goldfinches at one point, all feasting on the seeds.
This little fellow was buzzing from plant to plant. I don't know what the plant (weed!) is, but there are a lot of them in the border. They are about 6" high. If anyone can identify it, I would be interested to find out.
