Dolly the sheep getting her fleece
This was the first pass of the couching threads on Dolly. I'm doing them with a 11111 then do a second pass with 22222 to go 12121212 and that should make them lie flat (denser area is 1,2,1,2,1,2). The legs are in split stich and there are french knot details at the top of the front legs (more to come). The outlining is in outline rather than stem stitch and the big circle is in double chain stitch. After I get her nice white fleece done I am going to do some decorative embroidery work on her. Pictish spirals next along with DNA and scientific motifs to come. Turning the 2- ply Appleton wools back into fleece is an odd direction to be going in.
The knots at the top are where the threads start and the ends at the bottom have been stitched with tiny seed stitches but not cut in case I need to make any adjustments to the tension of the threads when couching.
