Life through the lens...

By ValC

Messing about on the river.

A few people relaxing by the river at Naburn Locks today.
Boats moored up and people sat in the sunshine.
One man fishing off the far bank. Didn't see him catch anything but Mr C saw a large fish jump out of the water, and then splash and it was gone in an instant.
They have done quite a lot of work there over the winter, and now they have a new Sensory Garden on the island, with several carved sculptures.( See extra)

We had a picnic sat by the lock, and then a walk along the river bank.
Oh what a glorious day.
Birds singing, and butterflies darting in and out of the wild flowers as we walked along.
The chestnut trees were looking their best with their beautiful candle like flowers shining in the sunlight, and the trees providing some nice shade from the hot sun.
We got chatting to the lock keeper as he let a couple of boats through on their way up the Ouse to York.
What better job could you have on a day like today.
He said it was what he wanted to do ever since he was a small boy, and his dream has come true. He lives in the lock keepers house you can see in the blip photo.
It is nice to know that to some people quality of life means more than money.

The only downer of the day was that the farm near Cawood, where we get our asparagus, had a notice outside saying they had none this year.
What a disappointment.
However we did visit a couple of nurseries and I bought some more plants for the garden which I am just about to put in.

Hope you have all had a wonderful day.
Glad the sun shone in Windsor too. I will watch the wedding highlights later.
Mr C now looking forward to watching the Cup Final!
