Lady's Slipper Orchid

Today's the day .......................... for cow pasture

Called in, almost by accident, to the Lane End Plantation and Cow Pasture at the foot of Sizergh Fell.  So glad we did, because there was an abundance of very special - and colourful - spring flowers on display.

There were early purple (I think?) orchids and cowslips - see extras - everywhere.  And these glorious Lady's Slipper Orchids, which had been given a bit of a help to combat the ravages of slugs in the form of a metal collar, but were nevertheless managing to survive in the wild very well. 

It was such a treat to see them ........................
