Music in the garden

Phew! Its over for another year. And we have all just returned from our annual gardeners dinner to celebrate yet another successful Open Gardens.

A novel twist  this year were the group of musicians playing in the grounds of Kenilworth House, one of the oldest houses in the area.

Among the visitors, many from outwith the area including Edinburgh and Glasgow were two women from Kentucky on holiday in Scotland.

They decided to walk, unaware from the map that all the gardens were on a steep hillside. We are at the top. By the time they got to us they were shattered.

When they asked how far the the gardens were they were told, “ it’s a wee walk”.

They had not bargained for a steep hill climb of a mile and half.
Fortunately we were able to arrange a lift for them with other visitors for the remainder of their journey.
