History

The plan was to walk at Fintragh Beach, to get there you have to go through Killybegs. What I didn’t realise, was that history was being made in Killybegs harbour today. They had a visit from the largest cruise liner, Queen Victoria, to ever visit Donegal, it truly dwarfed all around it. Killybegs & all the roads around it were choc-a-block as a result, but after a lovely walk, we went round to a suitable viewpoint, along with lots of other “sightseers”, it was impressive to see. We clearly heard the ships horn in Dunkineely (5 miles away) just before it was due to depart at 6pm.
Length 294m, Capacity 2,081 passengers, height 62.5m, Cost £270m (approx.)
