Continuing the theme....

Later this afternoon after the rain showers I popped out to the local country park to look for Damsel flies.
I wasn't disappointed, as there were quite a few hiding in the long grasses by the lake. 
This beauty is a male White-legged damselfly Platycnemis pennipes , although listed as 'uncommon', it is usually quite plentiful here in West Sussex and can be found without too much exploration. 
The adult males have have obvious expanded white legs which are used in a fluttering display flight in front of the females. I think they are really attractive, and are certainly among my favorite damselflies
