Never saw them from the front so not sure of the gender. They may of course have lots of friends and were waiting for them to turn up or they could have arrived early for a bowls match and wanted to make sure they got a good seat. Whatever their story it was a strange day to sit almost motionless on the park bench - cold and damp.

The bowling green is in the grounds of Hexham House behind Hexham Abbey.
