Today the country is.....

....France and the city is Marseille.

Today we did our own thing, what I should say is Claire organised a fantastic day of sightseeing around Marseille. First we got a taxi from the ship port to the smaller boat port 20 minutes away. We then hopped on the Petite Train which took us up to Notre Dame church on the hillside, we had spectacular views from the top.

In the main image you can see  Château d'If which is a prison out at sea and was the setting in the Count of Monte Cristo. This was taken at the top of the hill which sits the church. As we arrived there was a huge motorcycle meeting going on and I was in my element.

We then walked down the hill back to the sea front instead of taking the return little train, it was a decent walk but was good to take in the sights. We had lunch outside in a lovely courtyard and just as we finished it started raining so we headed back to the ship via taxi.

A good day well spent.
