Adonis

My butterfly species count has risen to 23 for the month with the addition of Brown Argus and Adonis Blue. The latter have emerged en masse at Mill Hill. I arrived late evening to see several hundred Adonis butterflies in flight and more starting to roost on the vegetation. I think this group are feeding on fox scat in a shallow scrape on the chalky ground. It was a spectacular sight. It looks as if the weather won't hold much longer so I'm not expecting my count to rise further this month although there is an outside chance of seeing Small Blue which I know are about..
