Leaving London

It was time to leave London.  We took the train to Waterloo and wandered over to the Southbank Centre, and the Royal Festival Hall in particular. where we had a coffee.  I had a walk round the neighbourhood in order to take some photos, of which I like this the best, Shell Mex House, once the headquarters of Shell/BP.  A very elegant Art Deco building standing on the banks of the Thames on Embankment.  In contrast most of the main buildings in the Southbank centre were built in the 1960s using brutalist architecture, for example the National Theatre at the side of Waterloo Bridge, see extra.

We took the tube to Baker Street and, stopping off at Pret for a spot of lunch, made our way to Marylebone Station.
