The Big House
This is Ty Mawr Wybrnant or Big House near the Wybrnant stream, now owned by the NT and brought to life by a fascinating Welsh man, who lives with his wife in a cottage in the grounds. Their water comes from the stream and they burn wood for fuel and cooking. Electric wasn't connected until 1985.
A gentleman by the name of William Morgan was born here in 1545. He became a bishop and it is he who translated the whole Bible into Welsh. It took him 9 years and 1000 copies were printed in 1588. Of those original one thousand copies, only 20 still exist, one copy of which is housed here at Ty Mawr.
Home for us tomorrow but we'll be making our way slowly, with things planned en route.
