Malahide Castle...Co.Dublin..

behind a Paulownia tree....parts of this castle dates back to the 12th century. With 260 acres of parkland estate, was granted to Richard Talbot by Henry the 2nd in 1185 and Talbots lived there for 761 years until 1976- apart from 1646-60 when Oliver Cromwell granted it to Miles Corbet. Corbert was hanged following the death of Cromwell and it was restored to the Talbots.
when the 7th Baron Talbot died in 1973 it passed to his sister Rose who sold it to the Irish State, mainly to fund inheritance taxes. Private and governmental parties were able to retrieve much of the furnishings and artifacts which had been sold previously.
extras: Castle entrance, bathroom, gentleman's dressing room, part of child's bedroom, and last two where the lady of the house made herself divine......
