Dewdrops

Dewdrops adorn petals
Like starlight kisses
Placed on edges
Like expectant wishes
Conjuring rainbows
From sunlight's gleam
Enclosing flower within
Dust sprinkled beam
Pink lips glisten
With sensual smile
Heart and mind
Quickly they beguile
Drawn as moth
To candle's flame
In petulant haste
Each lover came
Caught in web
Of gossamer greed
Hooked on drug
Of desperate need
Wrapping arms
In despair's cloak
Fearful of memories
Desire has awoke
Then limping away
With distate's unease
Each is forgotten
With consumate ease
Petals of flower
Wet with dew
The only observers
Of all she's been through
A reminder of times
A dimly remembered past
Where love flared
But did not last
A gift given
In stolen tryst
A time forgotten
And no longer missed
Morning sunlight
Adorning dewdrop kisses
Says goodbye to a night
That no-one misses
