Kendall and I attended a vigil this evening at the Q Center to honor the life of Gigi Pierce, 28, a transgender woman who was murdered recently in Portland. The number of hate crimes in the U.S. is on the rise. It is particularly sobering for those of us in the LBGTQ community, an ominous reminder that our civil rights cannot be taken for granted.The words above the doorway read, "Together, We Rise."
