Hobbs's Run

It was the Mt Victoria Great Train Weekend. There were steam trains, steam tractors, ancient rail motor trains, model trains, lots of people dressed up in antique gear aaaaaand about twelve million visitors - such that even genuine train tragics like myself were looking for an early exit.

I have put up a few extras to give my impressions of the event. The locomotive (incidentally) was a ginormous garratt from the NSW railway museum at Thirlmere. It had originally been built for hauling ore trains up steep inclines back in the day. While it was pulling passenger cars on this occasion, it had almost certainly never done so during its active working life.
