Cow Parsley

We normally drive to church, but this morning were obliged to walk about a mile from the car, which took us past this fine display at the East end of the Meadows, so I was able to take my photograph from a standing position for a change.

The reason for the altered plan was the closure of many streets for the Edinburgh Marathon, one example in the extra, where support and cleansing department vehicles occupied entire roads some distance behind the starting point: I noted that at least one other church entrance was blocked off completely. It seems this occurs every time such an event is held in the city, although less often in this area.

While I acknowledge the council's decision to encourage and host such events, it is disappointing that, when planning the route the runners and ancillary vehicles require, the needs of the residents and churchgoers are regarded as unimportant.
