Quod oculus meus videt

The Last Bluebells

Incredible storms during the late evening yesterday.  Sadly, an 80 year old man died not far from us, trapped in rising water under a railway bridge.

I popped out early and the evidence of the damage caused by the storm was all around, including a local pool flooding the adjacent road.  Manhole covers had been blown off in various places from the force of the storm water.

I popped over to a bluebell wood at Footherley, in the vain hope there may still have been some to see.   We were away for the peak of the colour in this part of the country.  I was too late, only finding this very sorry stalk standing proud of the carpet of plants battered down by the conditions.
