Checking

The river Yarrow flows through the village, there have been floods in the fairly recent past so the banks are being inspected for faults. A couple of years ago a flood defence scheme was installed to control the flow of water in times of high rainfall. Today a team were walking in the river checking the stone walls of the bank, there was only a small flow of water so conditions were ideal. When in full flow the depth here reaches about 3 metres.
