Carmen's lavatera

About 2 years ago our poodle, Carmen, broke off a branch of a shrub and planted it in another bed. Being a poodle she knew this was a lavatera and would therefore grow - and low and behold it did grow and flower in its first year. In its second year mr m transplanted it but not being as green thumbed as Carmen it didn't do so well and all this summer was just a big stick. Today we decided to get rid of it and here is its extensive root system left over from last year - as big as Carmen herself!
Poodles really are clever little dogs.
