Moon Daisies, Budleigh Salterton

Today, we were able to go and collect and my print of Culbone Church from the Bridge Gallery in Budleigh Salterton, a place I had never visited before.
It is a lovely place, gentle and sedate as I had imagined.
A mist came down and hung over the land and sea adding to the ephemeral feel of the day.
We walked up the River Otter Estuary and saw lots of shelduck and possibly grey pollock swimming.I was convinced we could walk up to the bridge and do a little circular back to the Lime Kiln Car park - however we arrived at the striking red cliffs on the Coast Path  to face a sheer drop and a very wide river so had to retrace our tracks back through the Nature Reserve! I was not popular! But there was a huge variety of wildflowers - vetches and wild geraniums amongst others. We also saw a reed bunting and happily watched two swans on their nest.
The afternoon was completed with a fresh crab sandwich from the excellent hut by the sea - delicious!!
