End of May.

It is exactly a week ago this evening that we arrived back from our holiday in Cornwall. It was a steamy, humid night and we were home at 11.30pm, having decided to  travel after teatime, in order to escape the Bank Holiday weekend traffic the following day, Friday. It's a journey of about 6 hours, which includes a couple of stops.
My hubby was very amused as I went up the garden soon after our arrival, in order to use a watering can on the plants which were in the big pots. It looked as if it had been a very warm dry week and they needed reviving!
Later on during the night there was a spell of torrential rain!
This amused my other half even more!
The garden and plants in pots revived and revelled in the soaking!
The fresh smell early the following morning outside coupled with a weekend which saw hot sunshine, torrential train, and spectacular storms, the downpours came during the night and sometimes were triggered by the heat of the humid days. They replenished the third full water-butt at one fell swoop!
The garden has loved all this soaking.
The flower borders are burgeoning apace.
Tomorrow is the new month of June, and the old song from the musical "Oklahoma" springs to my mind.......

"June is bustin out all over!
All over the meadow and the hill.
Buds are busting outa bushes
And the rompin river pushes
Every little wheel
That wheels beside the mill."

Looking at the sky outside right now, it looks as if we are in for another deluge a little later this evening!
You can see from the photo how the flower border is growing.
