If you can't beat them...

Fowlshaw Cumbria Wildlife Trust Reserve.

The highlight of the day for me (perhaps not as much for Clickychick was a members only event at Fowlshaw.   We had to book quite a while ago.  It was a talk about the Ospreys that nest there and Ospreys in general.  I thought I knew a lot about Ospreys having done some guarding work in the 70s.  However I still learned a lot, the sites officer giving the talk had done his uni dissertation on Ospreys at Rutland Water.

The talk was being followed by a walk out to the observation platform to try to see the birds.  Days weeks even without rain and just as the talk draws to a close rain starts.  Nothing daunted off we went.  The conditions were such that we could barely make out the nest through telescopes let alone the bird.  Never mind there is the live webcam on the Cumbria Wildlife Trust website.

The blip tries to give a general impression of the habitat and conditions.  The nest is in the tree far away in the centre of the picture.
