For a trip out today we caught the bus to Tarragona, a charming city with a Roman history, which according to the commentary on the ‘Tàrraco Tren’ (land train) was declared a World Heritage Site in 2000.
Having left the bus station onto the busiest roundabout and high rise buildings we had to wonder where this Roman architecture might be. From a little bit of research catching the Tàrraco Tren seemed to be the way to get to see the city. Whilst looking for the train stop we ended up walking along Rambles Nova where we came across this statue ‘Monumento a los Castellers’. It is a bronze statue of a Castell; a human tower built traditionally in festivals throughout Catalonia. The detail is amazing (see extras).
Onto the train and we did the whole route first to get our bearings before getting off at the Cathedral where we explored the charming cobbled streets of the old town and came across a hidden gem (in extras)
