Barton Marina

... with yellow flag irises.

After a hot day in her beautiful, richly colourful garden, my sister and I took a long, slow stroll around Barton Marina. (Mr PP had taken himself off to Sheffield University for the day for an as-interesting-as-he'd-hoped set of lectures.) Lots to see around Barton-under-Needwood marina - including a peacock blue damsel fly and a speckled wood butterfly. Lots of ducks, coots and Canada geese, too!

Mother duck swam along the edge of one of the pools where one of a pair of coots who apparently randomly had a go at one of her ducklings, attempting to separate it from its mother and siblings. She saw them off very bravely and they swam on in peace. (See Extras.)
