Banksia Cone before they become seed pods

There are still a few Banksia flowers to be found even during the Winter months, yesterday i posted the pods after the blossom dies, here is one still covered in all its glory.
There are around 170+ Banksia species all but one occur naturally in Australia, Banksias were named after Sir Joseph Banks (1743-1820) who in 1770, was the first  European to collect specimens of these plants.
He was the Botanist on board the Endeavour that sailed around our waters with Captain James Cooke who colonised Australia around that time.

Blipping Banksia cones made a welcome change, from car hunting, its time to change the car again, one of our dreads but we are planning a few trips in the van and for that the car needs to be reliable, do we spend money on the old one and bring it up to scratch? or change it? the latter won out!
Hope you all have a good weekend.. :-))
