one of the clearer bits

Once, through happy chance, I found the back way out of the Gyle Morrison's onto the back-ways cycle route and made it all the way back to the relatively well-marked and -known Pinkhill/Carrick Knowe path without putting a wheel wrong; this was back when the Balgreen bit of the path hadn't been built yet and there was a wee gravelly bit beside the repository. Last week I popped out from work at lunchtime to see if it was any good going that way to get to this week's training course on South Gyle back. Quiet routes are all very well but direct and quick routes are better.
