Red-winged Blackbird in Flight

Back to Fort River Refuge for the first time in a couple of weeks, taking advantage of a beautiful morning. Migration is well over, and accordingly there were very few birds. I waited for the blackbird to take off from the top of the parking area shelter as we were finishing. The ruby-throated hummingbird in the extra was a earlier surprise--the first of this spring; I reacted quickly when I saw his tail spread. Both images were distant and against the light, but you may see a hint of red in the hummer's throat.
