no teacher....

turned up today at Chimwangombe community school where I took my visitor to see!  We arrived and found the village headman with a lot of kids but no teacher - apparently he had gone on a course for 2 days and will be back on Monday!!

We had some fun with the kids though - they have no desks or chairs, some have pieces of wood to sit on and others sit on the floor.  Classes pre-school to grade 3 are all together in one room with no teachers and and no teaching materials!!  

This was good for my visitor to see and she was a bit shocked!  But it is reality in rural Zambia.
