Day 158/18 Jude under the Wave of Poppies

Jude and I went to fort Nelson today to see Wave of Poppies as it is leaving Portsmouth on 15 June 2018.

Wave was created by artist Paul Cummins and designer Tom Piper at Fort Nelson for the 1914-1918 NOW arts project. It commemorates the centenary of WW1.  The Wave has toured the UK since 2014 and this is its final year. Each poppy represents a British or Colonial life lost between 1914 to 1918.

Although impressive, we thought it not as dramatic as the display at the Tower of London a few years ago. Maybe we've been spoiled as this is a thought-provoking and humbling display.

We also enjoyed taking photos in the underground passages of the fort.

As the only entry cost was £3 for parking, we think we will be going back again soon.
