Archbishops Palace

Archbishops Palace Maidstone was formally the fourteenth century residence of the Archbishops of Canterbury and sits alongside the River Medway.

This morning I sat in the tranquil haven that is the walled Apothecary’s Garden to the front of the palace, while taking a break from my temp job just 5 minutes’ walk away.

I visited the Palace a couple of years back for jury service at the Coroner’s Court. I remember being distracted by the ancient building and all it’s beauty.

It’s only a short distance from a busy town centre road but somehow manages to be a tranquil space within its walled garden. It’s always good to have a peaceful place to escape the hustle and bustle.
