Bon voyage

The Volvo Ocean Race competitors finally left Cardiff today for Gothenburg and there was a large turnout to see them depart.

However, anyone looking forward to nautical dramatics was in for a disappointment. There was virtually no wind and the current wasn't behaving, so it was the tamest of starts. In fact, I have to admit that I didn't even notice them starting.

There was lots of activity on the water from boats fitted with engines! So my picture captures some of this fun, with the Ocean Race yachts in the background.

Eventually, we scrambled over the rocks to get round the coast from Cardiff Bay to Penarth and discovered some kind of street food fair when we finally reached our destination, which made for an enjoyable end to the afternoon.
