Strutting Small Ringed Plover

A movement amongst the wet flowers on the gravelly field next to the lakeside hides at Villeneuve, 3 Small Ringed Plovers were skittering about. A first for me! They are so rare here that the area where they nest is usually cordoned off by the local ornithologists. I wonder if they know that the plovers have arrived. The extra shows how difficult they are to see. I seriously cropped this telephoto image!

Poured down all day and we have guests tonight so no balcony meal sadly.

Thanks for placing the "floating" Marbled White butterfly on the first popular page, delighted!
