Walking down at the Solway Firth

Our club had a Special today (a special is when we go a bit further to walk, and have a meal before coming home )

Our walk went south to the Solway.  We stopped at Castle Douglas for morning coffee and had the best scones we have had in a long while.  Freshly made, and light and sweet, just delicious.

We started our walk at Balcary Point and walked to the cliffs and along some pretty narrow pathways high above the sea, and eventually came to Rascarrel Bay.  We then walked inland to Loch Mackie where we had our lunch and then back on to the cliff path to return to Balcary Point and our waiting coach.

After changing out of our walking gear we were taken to Dumfries and had a meal at the Cairndale Hotel there.  A little disappointing, but all in all we had a wonderful day.

The weather of course helps to make it enjoyable, and we had great weather for walking, a little light wind at times, warm and sunny at times.

Our walks are so special...…..
