ROYAL SPOONBILL, Platalea regia

A Royal Spoonbill - heading for their roosting islands ( not Roasting islands) On the Causeway this afternoon after feeding throughout the low tide at the Christchurch Estuary.  I note that the Estuary could soon get UNESCO heritage status as a flyway for the Bartailed Godwits - who are away at the present time with only a few youngsters wintering over.
