Memory and Reflection

I was driving along the coast back home during Storm Hector this morning and spotted a sculpture being lifted and installed in Musselburgh, so I stopped to have a look. The chap bolting it in place turned out to be the sculptor himself, Michael Johnson.  The mussel shell is 14 feet tall, weigh 2 tons and is made of stainless steel and has bronze insets which depict aspects of Musselburgh's history.  Its lovely and I will have to go and have a another look once it is all finished. Apparently it is one of two sculptures commissioned by ELC for Musselburgh (under its 'Percent for Arts' policy) and funded by Tesco.
