Above And Beyond...

The Butcher of Myrtos

With our friends we travelled the 90 minutes from our hotel to the quaint village of Myrtos of the south coast of Crete, and the Libyan sea. It's a village we know well from previous visits.

After a day on the beach, we visted the butcher, Kritsotakis, to buy his own made sausages. They're the best I've ever tasted - period! As luck would have it he was making a new batch as we walked in and I bought the whole lot he has in his hands in the blipfoto!

On the drive home we hit a stone just before the village of Prina and the car cut out and wouldn't restart. We had to call the hire company but whilst waiting a lovely couple from Poole (UK) stopped and offered help. The guy, Mat (staying at Prina) later returned with a large bottle of cold water and chatted until help arrived. We exchanged details. There are lovely people about.  We gave him a couple of sausages for his bar-b-cue he was having when he returned.

Consequentally, we arrived back too late to have our bangers and mash - probably tomorrow.
