Listening and Talking

Today still working on preparing the workshops for the school groups coming in.

One of the activities for pupils is to select their favourite scul?ture from the multitude they see in the exhibition.

Having whittled it down to one piece, they'll then be asked to think about why they've chosen that piece and what they want to say about it to future visitors.

Tonight's photo shows the mp3 players on which those later visitors will be able to hear what the pupils had to say because these players are also recorders, and each pupil will be encouraged to record what they had to say about his/her favourite piece in the exhibition.

Each mp3 player has two sets of headphones so that two people can listen to it together, and talk about what they're hearing and seeing.

Pupils will also be encouraged to look out for sets of headphones on display, part of some of the scul?tures... but not quite where they might expect them.

The first recordings will be made by some of the pupils who came in last Friday for the Glasgow Schools Reception - some of them eight years old, some of them almost eighteen. All with something to say on what they saw.

We're keen to listen.
